J, this is truly poignant. Can humans rotate around each other and not collide? Can little blue numbers ever disappear from wrist and mind? Can parents and children reconcile? Is relationship even possible? The answer is “yes” to these difficult questions, although it is a difficult

“yes”, one that takes all one’s strength, patience, and “yes”, love. Love is such a misused word, but it requires intent, caring, and focusing on the beloved. What is essential is invisible to the eye. I borrowed this last sentence from Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s book “The Little Prince”. Finally, we need help to love well.

As an imperfect being, in my humble opinion, it is okay to ask for help from others, and from the Author of personality, also known as God.

While you are visiting NYC, I hope you spend some time in one of the many little pocket parks scattered throughout the city. There is a beautiful little garden next to Holy Family Church, near the United Nations. Going north, on a nearby street - not avenue - is a pocket park with a waterfall. You write beautifully. Your light still shines. Peace.

Thank you very much. Deep bow. I hope to get to that particular pocket park while I am there. Is that where you live?

I used to live near these parks, just north of the United Nations and the Church of the Holy Family, a couple of blocks away from the East River. Pocket parks are quiet oases to rest and reflect. Google has lists of them. Enjoy your trip.

I don't want to think of you as floating directionless in space because you feel so connected, dare I say tethered, to being human. right here on planet Earth...........We're all part of the uncertainty principle as you know better than me. It is so generous of you to share your writing which is sharing yourself. A bit fearless. And you're coming to NY!!!!! Welcome.....maybe I'll see you strolling along the Avenues. Please write about it when you're here.

In college, my Physics professor would occasionally hold small discussion groups in his office. He once talked about the idea that time was like a bed sheet that went in various directions and could fold back on itself. I now look back and wonder if that explains dreams, deja vu, vivid memories or that "have we met before?" moment...Your essay bent time for me.

May you find adventure in NYC.

If people want to know who I am, I am happily married to Mark Planting’s sister Alice, whom you met in October of 2023 during our trip to Charlottesville to see Mark and and his brother Ron. I am a writer, proofreader, and jazz singer. Mark advised me to join your Substack since he knows I enjoy good writing.

This is beautiful and so sad. I hope New York embraces you although it seems like a terrible noisy place for someone so sensitive.
