Dear plant,

Thank you for sharing your poem and wonderings.

Some humans wonder about the same things.

Not all of us see themselves as central to everything.

Those who do, those who you describe in your brilliant poem, are called narcissists.

They may be dictators. Or tyrants. Or Egomaniacs. Or Psychoterrorists.

The humans you are describing are from a certain species. A kinship which represents some of the worst human qualities and characteristics.

Like in the plant kindom, you know, there are differences in the human kindom too.

Not all humans belong to the same kinship.

Some are friendly symbionts.

Others are invasive.

Fortunately the invasive ones are in the minority.

Unfortunately they have proportionately a lot of power.

Therefore we need poems like this one from you.

We need you plants to defend this planet,

which is the same planet we are trying to protect and nurture too.

We love plants

and forests

and birds

and leaves

and buds, stems, branches, trees, roots, soil...

all the kinships you mentioned and beyond.

We are yearning for your voices.

Hi J, you are right that for the self centered,

their lives are a prison. The escape is, as you so ably pointed out, is to focus outside the self. Thanks for this excellent path of contemplation showing how to focus the laser beam of consciousness outside one’s own narrow prison cell.'

Be the tree, the bird, the planet. If only humans could get out of their own heads… thank you for the profoundly written invitation to do so.
