I am also a writer with a new book out. My career was waylaid in another life by a severe neurological illness for over 20 years until a new brain surgery cured it. I love what you are doing. Good for you. We who are writers forge onward and upward. I would gladly be a paid subscriber, but alas, I am still a starving artist. Terror At The Sound Of A Whistle, Caroline Shannon Davenport
I don't have an agent so I don't have a book out. Congratulations on the fact that you do have a book out! I lost my agents when I became disabled. Do you have an agent?
Judith, please keep writing! Your voice is very important to humankind; your stories about life in Bewilderness always, always hit the mark. With your luminous prose, you brilliantly describe the cognitive issues that still bother you, even as the writing process
has become more difficult for you. We all appreciate you very much.
Happy Tuesday Birthday! I too try to avoid mirrors. I feel for you with the cognitive issues, but it doesn't seem to keep you from being one of the best writers I've encountered on Substack ... or elsewhere. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Write on!!
J - wishing you a happy and healthy birthday. And if you do decide to buck up and look deeply into the vision in your mirror, you'll see reflected all the joy that you bring into this world with your artistry and prose.
Thank you for sharing your challenges and satisfactions with readers. Your experiences are helpful for others to know, both for those with disabilities now and for those who may have disabilities in the future. Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday and I wonder if you can let us know your writing process. Given all your challenges and the length of time it has taken for you to recover a remarkable amount of wit and style, I imagine that these essays take quite a long time, and perhaps some help from others?
Absolutely no help from others. I just do what I do and it takes longer than it might have taken in the past and it's not a linear process at all and I couldn't say there is even a particular process. But thank you for reading and thank you for your comments. I appreciate them.
Thank you. I am so honored by your words and I so admire what you're bringing to the world.
Thank you. I am honored by your words.
I don't receive help from others. I just do what I do. No particular process, but things are certainly harder than they were in my first life.

Happy birthday, Judith! You bring so much interest and joy to others, we hope you have a wonderful day!
After the loom disaster, the fabric has a different pattern but seems just as lovely and interesting.
Happy Belated Birthday Judith. Thank you for what you share.
