Your humor despite your pain and anguish still shines through and I never cease to be amazed at your resilience. Best wishes for a speedy recovery or a respite from pain. My mother suffered as you do. It is not ennobling, no matter how we try to spin it.

I hope you can check off all the boxes and walk out of there soon after the next one.

Well, I would like to like the Screw You strory but I don’t like that you need to go through that cement stream to enforce your sponge like bones to enable the bones to be screwed.🔩

that sounds like a bad time, Judith, so sorry to hear it. ( I tried to write hell but your substack program wouldn't me.) I'm writing through a viscious migraine of the sort that gave me a stroke ten years ago to tell you that I hope the this cement is sucsuccessful in its quest to help you. Hang in there!

So sorry your back is damaged, J. This is hard on you, and Alice & I hope and pray your doctors’ treatments are creating a structurally sound spine that works for you.

Your shining prose still expresses beautifully your feelings amid this storm of physical troubles. Rooting for you!

I had a spinal fusion 30 years ago when they took bone from my hip and fused L5-S1 together. Very painful and complicated procedure before; now much simpler. I have severe pain again so looking for answer. I’m 78 so I think doctors won’t do much at this point.

Judith- I just read this piece. It’s September 25, 2024. I am wondering how you are doing? Physically? Respite care. Leaves a lot to be desired. In my past experience. Hoping you are improving.

I reread this post just now. I really enjoyed your opening paragraph about the escaped

zebra. I could easily see it in my mind frolicking in the Cascade Mountains; I hope it is rescued before winter sets in.
